Welcome to Urban Shaman

Long ago, when urban centres were small and the people of the tribes all knew each other and were not afraid to reveal their neighbourly characteristics, the shaman would often refrain from overly public interaction. Wearing strange articles of clothing, often associated with death, the shaman is a true eccentric, engaging in any amount of weird and wonderful behaviour that somehow plays an enormously important part in the daily rituals of life.

The special role of the shaman has always been one that crosses the barriers. In the extreme, she would use countless methods to engage in necromantic escapades into the spirit world, returning with gifts of an extraterrestrial nature, of knowledge, wisdom and of healing which she would share with the entire tribe, thru methods of application varying from simple storytelling, to energetic song and dance, to the "scientific" concoction and application of healing remedies to the tribes' common or unique ailments.

As shaman of the tribe, she finds herself with an ability and therefore a duty to commune with the subtle realms, to peer thru the veil and be discerning, and thence to teach and share of the knowings and the truths she is blessed with.

Simple truths and confounding truths are one and the same, and when these things fall upon the fertility an open heart and mind, the truth is grounded into human form and thru ecstatic song and dance, is revealed to the world in a resounding wave of grace, and set to bring about a radical healing of all and every parts of the shamans existence, from the body, to the heart, to the mind, and far beyond; to the past and the future, the ancestors and the children, their mothers and fathers, the animals they keep, and the lands they till and harvest.

Whether the people are interested in any of this or not makes no variation, for it is widely known that one persons experience is deeply affective of the life of the entire tribe, no matter how large that tribe, and the deep respect allotted with the shaman is a sign of her virtue - to have sacrificed the most part of herself to her art, to her relationship with divinity and the great knowledge of what lies beyond the mediocre gossips and goings on, in a deeply enchanting world, veiled by the common deceit of ignorance.

So where are all these shaman you ask? expired of their usefulness? upgraded to a more credible western scientific methodology?

Peer thru the veil and you might be very surprised. The shaman still walk among us. They often no longer wear fanciful iconic apparel, tho many of them still share a great many song and dance, a great many liberating artwork, a great many revolutionary ideas for a brighter future, a more sustainable future.

All shaman speak their experience of divinity thru these creative and revolutionary mediums, understanding that they are as transitory as these experiences, but the expression, application and teaching of the experiences are the things that will remain with the future of all tribes and all worlds to come. That even when a shaman perishes, the great work lives on, and the idea will always find new mediums thru which to be expressed.

As a human being, engaged in the experience of life, you are invited to add value to the world thru the expression of all you have learned, and encouraged to share these things with those around you. Share them here if you like.

Communicate. Take action. Appreciate.
